snug as a bug | mankato newborn photographer

Changing it up a bit for this post! I wanted to share one of my favorite (it is really hard to pick just one!!) poses in a prop. I typically do one to two prop poses per session…sometimes more, sometimes less…kind of whatever I’m feeling like, what I think the parents may want based on their style, and sometimes based on baby’s age. If baby is older, I will often do more prop and wrap shots as baby may not be as ‘squishy’ and ‘curly’ as a younger baby :)

So, baby all wrapped up, snug as a bug, surrounded by fun textures and layers, and posed in a bucket or box or crate or something along those lines, is one of my faves. It’s not only super comfortable for baby, but an easy transition from or to (or both) another pose, so baby barely notices what we’re doing. Oh, and obviously I think the resulting images are pretty sweet :)

I’m joining a few other photographers in sharing on this topic so be sure to check out the link at the end of this post to see Missy B Photography’s fave prop pose! Missy is located in Walnut Creek, CA, which is in the San Francisco Bay Area. There is such a great community of newborn photographers locally and all over the country, even world! I love it, and I love this job :)

This crate is one of my mostly used props! I but babies in it, on it, I put kiddos on it, in it, against it, you name it. It was handmade by a friend from high school, which makes me love it even more :)

This crate is also one of my absolute faves! It’s the perfect little size, babies always look so snug and cozy in it, and it adds a little fun vintage touch with the wooden handles and wire. As you’ll see above and below, I use this for boys, girls, naturals, colors, etc.! So versatile, love it!
